Here is a list of the top five things you can do to not get what you want. Take note, you may already be doing them.
Focus on what you don't want
I mean, really think about it, hard. It's even better if you stress, obsess, and worry about each and every last detail. The key to this is to keep returning to what you don't want like a broken record. That will take you to what you don't want faster than you can imagine. Share what you don't want to happen with friends, then everyone can feel bad, together. It's great fun.
Eat processed and refined food
When you eat crap, you feel like crap. When you feel like crap, it's easy to act like crap. Many people don't realize that chemicals and additives in food have a direct affect on your mental, emotional, and physical capabilities. Don't eat whole foods, you might feel better and have a clearer mind. That can't happen.
Be rude
This is a wonderful way to make sure you don't get the support you need. Who cares if people are nice or not, they don't deserve your kindness. No one does, least of all, you. In fact, the harder you are on yourself, the better. This helps ensure that you don't get what you want.
Rehash the past about what went wrong
This is a favorite one. You know, it's that friend/co-worker/relative/you that goes on and on about what happened and how horrible it was. Repeat this as much as possible. It's a helpful guarantee that not only will you not get what you want, you get the added bonus that people won't want to be around you either.
See all the reasons of why something won't work
List them out. Explore all the options of what could go wrong, why something isn't possible, and how you don't deserve for it to happen. Search out other examples - easily found on mainstream media - of how things don't work out. Bonus points for finding ways to put additional fear into the mix.
Continue to do all of these, and not only will you not get what you want, you'll fund the Self-Help industry for years to come.
