Last Halloween, I was a genie. I carried around a gravy bowl with wishes that people got to choose from (at the post office, the grocery store, work, etc.). The reactions were surprising, yet seemed to be an accurate reflection of the people themselves.
The ones that were friendly took the wishes willingly, returning genuine smiles and sometimes tears. The ones that were, uh, let's say, "having a bad day," looked briefly and returned it quickly, or refused to pick one up at all looking at me as if I had asked for their secret password to everything.
My hope for them and for you, bad day or not, is that you all feel deserving of good wishes.
