Last weekend, I spent some time at my old college campus, CSU Chico. While it has a party school reputation, that's not what drew me there. It's where my love affair with nature began. CSU Chico is a vibrantly alive oasis, with a creek running through campus, and now one of the most recognized universities for its progress in sustainability related matters.
Most of my life, nature was the backdrop. I'd occasionally notice a tree or two. The beach was more of a vehicle to cut school (did I just admit that?) and chat with friends. Parks were those places for picnics and playgrounds.
Now, it's just the opposite.
I see nature in cracks on the street, disheveled gardens, and everywhere else I go. Back at Chico last week, everything else - people, stores, cars - took the backdrop, and nature stepped up to nurture me again. My relationship with this earth wisdom breeds appreciation at levels only poetry and art can convey.
With nature comes a sense of magic and mystery. Her story has gone on far longer than the ones in our own heads. Combining my awe of nature with having recently visited the Goddess Download blog, reminds me that appreciation and magic are around us all the time.
How has nature helped you? Where are your favorite spots of natural nourishment?

Thanks for this lovely reminder:-)
