I woke up this morning thinking about change. What prompts people to finally do something they've been wanting to? What's the catalyst to get the change in motion? And, almost more importantly, why o why do we have such a problem when change doesn't happen? I wonder, what would happen if the energy that was put into judgment for not changing went into taking action on the very thing you wanted.
The top 3 reasons people change:
You've hit the discomfort threshold
That's right, you're done. Oh so done. You are no longer comfortable in your discomfort. The train has left the station. Onward and upward.
Life throws you a curve ball
You didn't know it was coming. Whether you like it or not, change has happened and now it's your turn to roll with it as best you can.
Natural progression into what's next
The transition is generally smooth because you feel complete. It was
time to move on, and you are not only at peace with that, you're quite
pleased about what's next.
Anything you'd like to change in your life? What would need to happen in order for you to take steps towards it? Do share...

Thanks for these three reasons for change. I'd add, too, sudden profound insight, but maybe that would be under the curveball category??

Excellent thought-provoking article. I think many things trigger change but the current financial situation is causing a lot of people to rethink their priorities, goals and the way they manage their lives.

Thanks for your comments!
I agree with both of you - sudden insight and the current financial happenings are both enough to pop someone into action. I'm thinking they're both in the curveball/not expecting category.
