Just like we get locked into ways of thinking about something, we also become habitual in the way we move. In doing so, it creates stagnation, and sometimes pain, in the body and in our thoughts and feelings. The beauty of this concept is that even a simple shift in motion will unlock the "stuck."
Movement has become more and more important in my life over the past year. The more I move, the better I feel, the easier life seems to get, and the creative, inspiring ideas are flowing. Ready to move, get creative, and inspire?
Lift your arms above your head, hands open and fingers pointed toward the sky. Extend those arms out, slowly coming down and outlining the upper half of your body. Rest them at your side. This is a great one for clearing out overwhelm, and less than 30 seconds. Everyone has 30 seconds!
Put both feet on the ground. Ideally, take your shoes off (if not, that's ok, too). Wiggle your toes. Get a sense of them gripping the floor beneath you. Feel the heels and underbelly of your feet settling into the floor. Take a moment to appreciate how much your feet do for you. They've taken you to a lot of places! Got issues anywhere in your body? Get your feet firmly planted on the floor and those will shift too.
